LUMATEK 250W 240V DIGITAL BALLAST High performance with low power consumption and low operating costs make the LUMATEK Digital Ballast 250W a great ballast for beginners and professional growers of light-sensitive plants. Ballast is required to ignite high intensity discharge (HID) lamps such as high pressure sodium (HPS) and metal halide (MH) lamps. Ballasts run non-stop for 8 to 24 hours a day, depending on the type of harvest and the light cycle, so they need to be as efficient as possible. With less waste of energy as by-product heat, Lumatek ballasts produce more light with less energy consumption. Conventional magnetic core and coil ballasts waste a large portion of the energy consumed as by-product heat, can degrade over time and even catch fire with prolonged use. Lumatek digital ballasts control the starting phases and voltage output via microprocessors, which improves lamp performance and less energy is wasted as heat. Even in long-term operation, the LUMATEK 250W digital ballast is only lukewarm and has full circuit protection, including interruption / short circuit, overtemperature, over / low voltage, end of lamp life / rectification and EMI suppression. By selecting the Super Lumens (SL) switch setting for Lumatek ballasts, the output of the HPS lamps is increased by 10%, which increases the luminosity and the PAR / PPF values. It is not recommended to dim or increase MH lamps that should match the same power setting (e.g. 250 W lamp with 250 W lamp and 150 W lamp with 150 W setting).
