All EZ tests use a chemical reagent that is absorbed into silica gel that is in a glass ampoule. When a sample is added to the ampoule of these chemicals, a color change occurs when a reaction occurs. This color should be compared to the color chart that came with the instructions to get an idea of what might be in the sample.
